Isla de Lobos is one of those places that looks like it belongs on another planet: barely 4.5 km² of turquoise coves, dormant volcanoes and protected seabeds, just 15 minutes by boat from Corralejo (Fuerteventura). At OWA we run this trip almost daily and know exactly what makes each visit special: here's your step-by-step guide to making the most of it.
It's only accessible by sea. The easiest way is the water taxi from Corralejo, with frequent morning departures and afternoon returns. The crossing takes about 15 minutes through the La Bocaina strait, with views of Fuerteventura's dunes and, in the distance, the silhouette of Lanzarote.

The island is a Special Nature Reserve and the number of daily visitors is limited to protect its ecosystem. You need a free access permit from the Fuerteventura Cabildo, in addition to the boat ticket. Our team helps you get everything sorted so all you have to worry about is enjoying the day.

The seabed around Lobos is part of a marine reserve with surprising biodiversity: shoals of fish, sea bream, starfish and seagrass meadows. Snorkelling at El Puertito is suitable for the whole family, with clear, shallow water. If you want more, there are nearby dive spots with exceptional visibility.
Plenty of water (there are no shops), sun protection, a cap, comfortable shoes, mask and snorkel, and some food. There's little easy shade on the island, so come prepared.

If you have more days on the island, southern Fuerteventura has another gem: the Sotavento lagoon, one of the best spots in the world to learn [Stand Up Paddle](/activity/stand-up-paddle) on calm waters. Two different plans, the same wild island.
Go early: morning light is best for photos and the sea is usually calmer. And remember: on Lobos, everything you bring in leaves with you. It's an unspoilt gem precisely because those of us who visit take care of it.
