Dolphin Safari — Dolphins and Whales

Set sail from Puerto Rico, on the south-west coast of Gran Canaria, in search of wild dolphins and whales. A professional guide is on board throughout the trip, watching for every sign in the water, in one of the Atlantic's most reliable spots for cetacean sightings around the island.

What you'll experience

How the activity works

The trip sets sail from Puerto Base in Puerto Rico and heads out to the waters off Gran Canaria's south-west coast, one of the Atlantic areas where bottlenose dolphins and several whale species are spotted most often throughout the year. Over the three-hour crossing, the onboard guide explains each species' behaviour and helps spot the first signs — a spray of water on the horizon, a group of fins breaking the surface. When the animals appear, the skipper slows down and keeps a respectful distance so as not to disturb them, leaving plenty of time to watch and take photos. It's a relaxed outing, suitable for the whole family, that combines the thrill of the sighting with the simple pleasure of sailing the Atlantic with Gran Canaria's volcanic coastline in the background.
